What is a Home Inspection?

A home inspection is an unbiased, general overview of the visible condition of a home on a given day.  The inspector will look specifically for items that present safety concerns and conditions that prevent the home from performing the functions that it was built to do.  When the inspection is complete, you will be given a written report on the condition of the home.  You may not know everything about the home, but you will surely know much more than before.

What does a Home Inspection not cover?

A home inspection is not a code compliance inspection, a mold inspection, a warranty nor an engineering analysis.  It is a non-destructive survey, so items not visible may not be noted.  It is not as thorough an examination as you would receive by hiring an engineer to evaluate the foundation, a plumber to evaluate supply and waste lines and so on through the many trades.
